18+2y=-36 Multiply 3 times each side to get rid of the fraction.
2y=-54 subtract 18 from each side.
y=-27 divide both sides by 2
Check:
6+(2/3)(-27)=-12
6+(-18)=-12
6-18=-12
-12=-12
