-6x-6y=-36
6x+y=13
notice how when you add them the x terms disappear. They have been eliminated.
-5y=-23
y=4.6
6x=8.4, substituting into the second equation.
x=1.4
(1.4, 4.6)
Check by the first: -(4.2+13.8)=-18
also check by graphing.
