On a 100-mile hike, Mike walks 15 miles the first day, 10% of what is left the next day and 0.2 of the total the following day. What percent of the hike has Mike left to walk?
----------
1st day:: 15 miles
2nd day:: 0.10*85 = 8.5 miles
3rd day:: 0.2(100-15-8.5) = 0.2(76.5) = 15.3 miles
-----
Total walked (15+8.5+15.3) = 38.8 miles
-----
Distance left:: 100-38.8 = 61.2 miles
---------
Ans: Percent left:: 61.2%

This problem is a little hard to follow. I may not
get it right, but here goes:
The total distance walked is 100 mi, so when they
say 0.2 of the total they mean the fraction
times the total or:
mi
------------------------
He walked 15 mi the 1st day, which leaves:
mi
10% of what is left is:
mi
-----------------
So far he has walked:
mi
--------------------
And 0.2 of the total was mi, so
He has walked mi
----------------------------------
mi left to walk
What percent of the hike does he have left to walk?

He has 56.5% of the hike left to walk

If .2 of the total means: .2 of the total he has walked, the first 2 days, then he has of the trip left
