the second side of a triangle is 3 times the first side. the third side is 2 and a half times the first side.
the perimeter is 60 feet, find the length of each side.
----------------------------------------------
Let a be the length of the 1-st side,
b be that of the 2-nd side,
c be that of the third side.
From the condition, b = 3a, c = 2.5a, and you have an equation
a + b + c = p, or
a + 3a + 2.5a = 60, or
6.5a = 60.
Hence, a = 9.231 ft.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
F=first side; S=second side=3F; T=third side=2.5F
.
F+S+T=60ft
F+3F+2.5F=60ft
6.5F=60ft
F=9.23ft
S=3F=3(9.23ft)=27.69ft.
T=2.5F=2.5(9.23)=23.08ft
.
ANSWER First side=9.23ft; Second side=27.69ft; Third side=23.08ft
