When we write anything in scientific notation, we need to make sure that the number is less than 10. So we move the decimal three places to the left.
1.250To make this 1250 again we multiply this by 1000, or we move the decimal 3 places to the right which is done by multiplying by 10^3. In other words:
1250=1.25%2A10%5E3
