Question 692310: When multiplying decimals such as: .008 x .006, I am aware that after finding the product, you are supposed to count the amount of numbers to the right of the decimal point in the multiplier and multiplicand to determine where the decimal is placed in the product. In the multiplication problem I have listed above, the product does not contain enough numbers to place the decimal correctly. What do I do when this problem occurs?

0.008+%2A+0.006+=+0.000048
Your method is as you stated. 8*6 = 48. Then count the decimals places (3 + 3 = 6)
Then move the decimal place 48.0 six places to the left to get 0.000048
