If we raise this number to the power 4, we have %282x10%5E4%29%5E4. Now the beauty of scientific notation is that we can split the numbers and the powers and work on them separately, as 2%5E4x%2810%5E4%29%5E4.

We then get 16 x 10%5E16 which is "corrected" back into scientific notation as 1.6x10%5E17.
