You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n=number of toys

Total Cost = Number of Toys * Cost per toy

So the cost function is C=1.8n

-----------------

Revenue = Number of Toys * Price per toy

So the revenue function is R=3n

Note: the revenue is the amount of money he makes BEFORE expenses are factored in.

-------------------------------------------

Now remember, profit is simply the difference of the cost from the revenue

So

Profit = Revenue - Cost

So the profit function will be

P=R-C

P=3n-1.8n Plug in R=3n and C=1.8n

P=1.2n Combine like terms.

Since he wants "to make a profit of exactly $36.00", this means that P=36

36=1.2n Plug in P=36

36%2F1.2=n Divide both sides by 1.2 to isolate "n"

30=n Divide.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:

So the answer is n=30 which means that he will have to sell 30 toys to make a profit of exactly $36.00
