You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Suppose Shalu income is 100 and Rashmi 160.
So how much (x) should Shalu income be, so that Rashmi's is 100?
100%2Fx+=+160%2F100
x=100%2A100%2F160
x=62.5
So Shalu's income is

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = shalu's income.

rashmi's income is 60% more than shalu's incomes.
rashmi makes x + .6 * x = 1.6 * x.

subtract shalu's income from rashmi's income and you get .6 * x.

that's the difference.

that difference divided by shalu's income is equal to .6x / x which is equal to .6 which is equal to 60%.

that difference divided by rashmi's income is equal to .6x / (1.6 8 x) which is equal to .375 which is equal to 37.5%.

the same difference is equal to 60% of shalu's income and is equal to 37.5% of rashmi's income.

it is 60% more than shalu's income and it is 37.5% less than rashmi's income.

it's the same difference.
the denominator, however is not the same.

let's see if this makes sense.

assume shalu is making 100 dollars.
rashmi makes 60% more than this, so rashmi makes 160 dollars.
the difference is 60 dollars.
the difference is 60 dollars more than 100 dollars.
the same difference is 60 dollars less than 160 dollars.

60 divided by 100 is equal to 60%.
60 divided by 160 is equal to 37.5%.

60 is 60% more than 100.
60 is 37.5% less than 160.

60 equals .60 * 100
60 equals .375 * 160

looks good to me.
