I'm not very good in solving confusing word problems. Here we go:

You can put this solution on YOUR website! "Anne is 24 and two times as old as Mary was, when Anne was as old as Mary is now."
:
Anne's age given as 24
let m = Mary's present age
:
The difference in the their age = (24-m)
:
Write an equation for what it says:
2(m - (24-m)) = 24
2(m - 24 + m) = 24
2(2m - 24 = 24
4m - 48 = 24
4m = 24 + 48
4m = 72
m = 72/4
m = 18 yrs, Mary's age now
:
:
Check this, 6 yr difference in their age
""Anne is 24 and two times as old as Mary was, when Anne was as old as Mary is now."
2(18 - 6) = 24
2(12) = 24
