cut it into two pieces, one x meters and the other one y} meters long
so, x+%2B+y=10m
if x is 2m longer than y, we have
x=y%2B2m..........substitute in
x+%2B+y=10m
y%2B2m+%2B+y=10m...........solve for y
2y=10m-2m
2y=8m
y=4m
then, the longer piece x will be:
x=y%2B2m ..........plug in y=4m
x=4m%2B2m
