The room is 2 meters longer than it is wide. 

its  perimeter is 24 meters. find the width x in meters

 2(x+2) + 2x = 24m

   4x = 20m

    x = 5m, the width

CHECKING our Answer*** length is 7m

 10m + 14m = 24m
