Question 20007: Points A,B,C and D lie on the same line and in that order. The ration of AB to AC is 1/4 and the ration of BC is 1/2. Find the ratio of AB to CD.
I have no idea how to even start!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Is this problem complete? You state that the ratio of BC is 1/2, but you don't state what that is in relationship to.

First, let's draw the line based on the information given:
AB:AC::1:4
BC:CD::1:2
A-B---C------D

Without doing any calculations and just inspecting the line segments we can see that CD is 6 times as long as AB. So, my guess is that AB:CD::1:6. I hope that is right?
