The sum is 17: ---> x%2B2%2B2x=17, EQN 1
Continuing,
x%2B2%2B2x=17
3x=17-2
3x=15 ------> cross%283%29x%2Fcross%283%29=cross%2815%295%2Fcross%283%29
x=5, smaller number
2%2B2%2A5=2%2B10=12, larger number
Check via EQN 1:

7%2B10=17
17=17
