SOLUTION -
Let number os student tickets sold be x
and the number of general tickets sold be y
Total number of tickets= 525
x+y=525
x=525-y .....(i)

Cost of one student ticket = $4
Therefore cost of x tickets= $4*x=4x
Cost of one general ticket= $6
Therefore cost of y tickets =$6*y=6y

Total money collected=2876
4x+6y=2876
substituting the value of x from equation (i)we have
4(525-y)+6y=2876
2100-4y+6y=2876
2100+2y=2876
2100+2y-2100=2876-2100
2y=776
2y%2F2=776%2F2
y = 388
substituting the value of y in equation (i) we have
x=525-y
x=525-388
x=137
therefore number of students tickets sold=137
and number of general tickets sold=388
