Slope (m): = %2825000-2000%29%2F%280-10%29 = 23000/-10 = -2300

y = -2300x + 25000

the loss in value each year is (25000 - 2000) / 10 = 23000 / 10 = 2300.
linear equation form is y = mx + x
m is the slope.
b is the y-intercept.
y is the value.
x is the number of years.
the slope becomes -2300 because it's a loss each year.
you have two coordinate points on the line.
they are (0,25,000) and (10,2000)
since the slope is -2300, the general form of the equation becomes y = -2300 * x + b
to find the value of b, replace (x,y) with the value for one of the points and then solve for b.
i used the point (0,25000)
the equation of y = -2300 * x + b becomes 25000 = -2300 * 0 + b
simplify to get 25000 = b.
