SO NOW WE HAVE TO ADD THE INCREASE .08X TO THE BASE SALARY X WWHICH EQUALS THE NEW SALARY:
OLD SALARY (x) + 8% OF OLD SALARY (.08X)=THE NEW SALARY (.94)
x+.08x=.94 ADD THE X TERMS
1.08x=.94 DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY 1.08
x=.94/1.08
x=$.87 was the salary before the 8% raise.
