Question 658946: Two buses leave atlanta at the same time traveling in opposite directions. One travels at an average speed of 75 mph and the other at 60mph. In how many hours will they be 405 miles apart? Let x= time of travel for the first bus and y= time of travel for the second bus. Then the system that models the problem is {x = y
{75x+60y=405 .. Please help me RIGHT AWAY!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hint:
If x = y, then you can replace either x or y with the other variable.

So you can replace x or y (or vice versa)

Let's replace x with y in the second equation

75x+60y=405

75y+60y=405

Now solve for y. Once you have y, you automatically know x (since x = y)
