Eight times the difference of 5 and a number gives 152. find the number
Let a number be:x
"eight times" means 8*
"The difference of 5 and a number" means 5-x
"gives" means =
8*(5-x)=152
40-8x=152
40-40-8x=152-40
-8x=112
-8x/-8=112/-8
highlight%28x=-14%29
Happy Calculating!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(Eight times the difference of 5 and a number gives 152
8(x-5)=152
8x-40=152
8x-40+40=152+40
8x=192
8x/8=192/8
x=24
.
check by plugging (x=24) back into the original equation.
