Question 420788: I really need help. I have only 1 question. here is is the info.
You are driving from Grand Rapids, to Detroit, MI. You leave Grand Rapid at 4:00pm. At 5:10pm you pass through Lansing, MI a distance of 65miles.
I have to write a linear equation that gives the distance in miles, d, in terms of time, t. Let t represents the number of the minutes since 4:00pm. Then, what time will you arrive in Detroit if it is 150 miles from Grand Rapidsm MI.
Okay, I think: d = 65 miles, and t = 70 minutes.
65 divided by 70 = 0.928 miles per minute.
0.928 x 150 minutes = 2.33 hours (arrival time would be at 6 hours and 33 minutes.

Question 420846: Hello I need help with arranging like terms. The method the linear system would have to be solved is elimination. The problem I have to solve is: 1. 2x - y = 32 2. y - 5x = 13. I changed y - 5x = 13 to -5x + y = -13 and I didn't find the solution. It is my understanding that there is no solution for this problem because if x=5-6y and you plug that into the first equation you have 5-6y+6y=6, then y becomes eliminated and it leaves you 5=6 which is not an answer. Am I right, or am I doing this wrong? The solution box is asking for an ordered pair, but I don't see how you can get one.
