Question 215902: Find a point that solves all equations algebraically. The equations are:
8x+2y-z=-25
3x-3y+5z=10
-5x+6y-2z=17
I have tried several different times to solve by adding and subtracting the equations to get an equation with two solutions, then add and subtract those to solve for one variable and then be able to fill in a two variable equation to get the next variable and finally stick it all in an original equation to get the last variable. I tried substitution. I end up with really big, really ugly answers that, when plugged in, do not add up right. I don't know what else to try. Thank you for your help.

I started setting up the problem like this:

3x=35 bill.
Then divided both sides by 3. But the answer just doesn't look right.

Question 217067: I have to come up with my own system of equations with two variables (x,y). I am starting with a word problem first.
I drive 10 miles to school and 10 miles back. I go to school 4 days a week and gas costs $2.49. How many miles and how much gas do I use in one week?

Question 217100: Solve by Cramer's Rule x=dx/d, y=dy/d, and z=dz/d
2x-y+3z=9
x+4y+4z=5
3x+2y+2z=5
I have worked this problem and I know it is not right because of the numbers I am getting. I do have that D is -40. I have dx is -20. I have dy is 210 and dz is 156. Something is not right in the way I set up teh matrix. Thanks for your help.

Question 217255: I have to write a system of equations that can be used to solve this problem then solve the system and determine the answer. The problem is:
A lady can join a small business as a full partner and receive a salary of 12,000 a year plus 15% of the year's profit, or she can join as a sales manager with a salary of 27,000 per year plus 5% of the year's profit. What must the years profit be for her total earnings to be the same whether she joins as a full partner or as a sales manager?
I'm not sure if it's right or not but I came up with:
s=0.15p+12,000
s=0.05p+27,000 and what system should I use to solve it?

Question 217540: Hi! Given a sequence like this:
when n=1, x=1
when n=2, x=5
when n=3, x=9
when n=4, x=13
... and so on, how do you come up with an equation to represent that relationship? I know the answer is 4n-3=x because I looked it up in the back of the book. But how do you figure that out on your own?

#1) 5x-7y=-16 10x-14y=32 5x-7(-7.90)=-16
2x-5y=11 10x+25y=-55 5x+55.3=-16
11y=-87 -55.3 -55.3 (-14.26,-7.90)
y=-7.90 5/5x = -71.3/5
x = -14.26
#2) 5x-9=7 7y-3x=-5
+9 +9 7y-3(16/5)=-5
5/5x=16/5 7y-42=-5 (16/5, 37/7)
x = 16/5 +42 +42
7/7y = 37/7
y = 37/7
#3) 9x+5y=6 2(3/11)-5y=-3
2x-5y=-3 6/11-5y=-3
11/11x = 3/11 -6/11 -6/11
x = 3/11 -5/-5y=-27/-5
y = -27/-5
#4) 8x-3y=16 (8/16,-4)
8x+3y=-8
