Question 24670: I have worked this problem about 5 times and the answers I get do not satisfy each equation. Could someone please tell me if this equation is inconsistent??
Solve this system of equations, when possible:
x-y+z=7
2x+5y-4z=2
-x+y-z=4
these are the answers I got, but do not satify each equation!
x=-4, y=-6, z=10
x=10, y=6, z=-3
I then multiplied 1)by -2 and 3)by 2 and added them seperatley to 2) and got answers of: 7y-6z=10 and 7y-6z=-12
I then subtracted them and got: 0=-2
which is and inconsistent system, right??!!
Thanks!

Question 25003: Instructions were to "Solve the system of linear equations"
(There is a bracket( { ) on one side of all three equations)
-x + y + 2z = 1
2x + 3y + z = -2
5x + 4y + 2z = 4
I have read the section explaining this and am still unsure how to start. The other systems that include only two equations were not hard.

Question 25093: We are solving for f. The equation is
1/p + 1/q = 1/f
if pg is common deminator then we would multiply each side by pg so
q+p=1/f x pg. So would I then divide each side by pg
so I would get q+p/pq=1/f. The answer in the book is
f=pq/p+q which is the opposite of what I got. Thanks for your help.
