you came up with -3x%2B12=-4x which is correct
now move -4x to the left adding 4xto both sedes of equation
-3x%2B4x%2B12=-4x%2B4x
x%2B12=-cross%284x%29%2Bcross%284x%29
x%2B12=0
x%2B12-12=0-12
x=-12
