Replace every copy of y with 8. Then solve for x.

2x+%2B+4y+=+50

2x+%2B+4%288%29+=+50

2x+%2B+32+=+50

2x+=+50-32

2x+=+18

x+=+18%2F2

x+=+9

So when y+=+8, the value of x is x+=+9

50-32=18
