Question 904136: What is linear equation?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! A linear equation is an equation which forms a line and can be seen when plotted on a graph.
A linear equation is of the form
ax+by+c=0 standard form
y=mx+b slope intercept form
The b's are not equal
I'll never understand why they use such confusing letters for the variables when there are 26 to choose from.
Notice that there is no exponent higher than one
x and/or m and/or or b can equal 0
An equation with an exponent of 2 is called quadratic.
