Question 854853: Write the slope-intercept form of an equation of the line that passes through (4,-6) and is parallel to y= -3/4x + 1 .
I thought the answer was y= -3/4x - 9 . The answer is actually y= -3/4x -3 . Could you please explain what I did wrong?
Thank you,
Isabella

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Parallel lines have the same slope.
y=-%283%2F4%29x%2Bb
Use the point to solve for b.
-6=-%283%2F4%29%284%29%2Bb
-6=-3%2Bb
b=-6%2B3
b=-3
.
.
.
y=-%283%2F4%29x-3
You must have subtracted the 3 and not added it.
