Im not sure of this is System of Equations but i think its very close to it.

f(-2) means find f(x) when x = -2

x = -2 means that f(x) = 3x^2 + 2 since this is the first piece (when x <= -1)

So...

f(x) = 3x^2 + 2

f(-2) = 3(-2)^2 + 2

f(-2) = 3(4) + 2

f(-2) = 12 + 2

f(-2) = 14

f%28-2%29=3%28-2%29%5E2%2B2

f%28-2%29=3%2A4%2B2

f%28x%29=-x-4, if x%3E-1...........let's take x=0
f%280%29=-0-4
f%280%29=-4
