Substitute equation 1 into equation 2

Distribute
+6y+-+4+%2B+4y+=+16+
combine like terms
+10y+-+4+=+16+
add 4 to both sides
+10y+=+20+
divide by 10
+y+=+2+

Substitute y=2 back into equation number one
+x+=+3y+-+2+
