For the first line y=6-x, let x=0 and solve for y
y=6-0
y=6 Plot (0,6)
Now let x=2 and solve for y
y=6-2
y=4 Plot (2,4) Connect the points and you have this line:
For the secon line y=x+4, let x=0 and solve for y.
y=0+4
y=4 Plot (0,4)
Now let x=2 and solve for y
y=2+4
y=6 Plot (2,6)
Connect the points and you have a second line.
The lines intersect at one and only one point (1,5), so it's consistent and independent.
Parallel lines are inconsistent and independent.
