Question 584152: express the following statement as a linear equation in two variables BY TAKING PRESENT AGES(IN YEARS)OF FATHEr AND SON AS X AND Y.RESPECTIVELY.AGE OF FATHER 5 YEARS AGO WAS TWO YEARS MORE THAN 7 TIMES THE AGE OF HIS SON AT THAT TIME.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = Father's age now
y = Son's age now
+x-5 = Father's age 5 yrs ago

+x+-+5+=+7y+-+35+%2B+2+
+x+-+5+=+7y+-+33+
+7y+=+x+-+5+%2B+33+
+7y+=+x+%2B+28+
+y+=+%281%2F7%29%2Ax+%2B+4+
Something is wrong with my
answer or the problem.
According to this equation,
when the Son is 5, the father is 7.
I don't see what I did wrong, though.
