Question 516945: I just statred college after I was off for 10 years. In high school I loved it and did great at it, but now steping in the college level they give only one examply for multiple of variations. Where could I look on the web for good examples on college algebra so I can better understand it. Another thing to if I do a problem and dont know if it is right I dont know if I am doing it correct. Is there any good online calulators that I can use to see if I am doing the problems right?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For free help try these two sites:
.
http://www.khanacademy.org/#Algebra
.
http://www.purplemath.com/modules/index.htm
.
Also go to the home page for purple math (www.purplemath.com) and wander through the various links for further sources of info and additional math links.
.
A site that's gaining usefulness is:
.
http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/topics.html?Mathematics#2
.
Click on the Algebra link on this wolfram site.
.
And, of course, don't forget www.algebra.com.
.
As far as calculators are concerned:
.
Most colleges will let you use the Hewlett-Packard TI-89 graphing calculator for homework and exams. It's a little "pricey" (cheaper on e-bay and available used from college students who bought one and later decided that math is not for them) but well worth it for serious math students. It also is sufficiently complex that it takes a fair amount of practice to get proficient with it. The TI-89 has the capability to solve complex algebra equations, graph, work trig problems, and download and store lots of specific application programs from the HP library to enable you to solve problems of current interest that you are working on, etc.
.
You can also google "free graphing calculator" and find some that you can download and run on your computer. (Advisable to do this before investing in a calculator such as the TI-89).
.
I haven't had first hand experience with downloaded free calculators, but here's a site that apparently provides a free TI graphing calculator download:
.

.
Hope this helps you out. If these sources do not meet your needs, post your question here again and you might get a better series of references from other tutors.
