Solve the system of equations using the elimination method.
4x+3y=3
5x-9y=144
I multiplied the second equation by 3 to eliminate the y variable. After adding the two equations and solving for x, I got 10 1/17.
12x%2B9y=27
+ 5x-9y=144

17x=171
x=171%2F17
Then I substituted my x-value into the original first equation to solve for y.
4%28171%2F17%29%2B3y=3
40+4%2F17%2B3y=3
3y=-37+4%2F17
y=-211%2F17
Thus, my answer was (171/17, -211/17)
