You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=2x%2B10 Start with the first equation.

-2x-6=2x%2B10 Plug in y=-2x-6

-2x=2x%2B10%2B6 Add 6 to both sides.

-2x-2x=10%2B6 Subtract 2x from both sides.

-4x=10%2B6 Combine like terms on the left side.

-4x=16 Combine like terms on the right side.

x=%2816%29%2F%28-4%29 Divide both sides by -4 to isolate x.

x=-4 Reduce.

y=2x%2B10 Go back to the first equation.

y=2%28-4%29%2B10 Plug in x=-4

y=-8%2B10 Multiply

y=2 Add

So the solutions are x=-4 and y=2 which form the ordered pair (-4,2)

So the system is consistent and independent.
