You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use 1 equation to get one variable in terms of the other.
Then substitute into the remaining equation.
1.x+%2B+y+=+4
2.++2x+%2B+4y+=+5
From eq. 1,
x=4-y
Substitute into eq. 2,
2%284-y%29%2B4y=5
8-2y%2B4y=5
8%2B2y=5
2y=-3
highlight%28y=-3%2F2%29
Now that you have y solve for x
x=4-%28-3%2F2%29
x=8%2F2%2B3%2F2
