Question 30513: art, trudy and suelike to take exercise walks together. however, they never do actually stay together, since trudy walks at a speed that is 1 1/2 mph faster than sue's spped and art walks 1 mph slower that sue. art walks at a leisurly 2 mph. now total distance,D, in miles is the dependent variable and the time walked, t, in hours is the independent variable. i need to figure out equations for all three of the walkers.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d = r x t is the equation for all three
for Art, r = 2 mi/hr
d%5BA%5D+=+2%2A+t
for Sue, r = 2 mi/hr + 1 mi/hr = 3 mi/hr
d%5BS%5D+=+3%2A+t
for Trudy, r = 3 mi/hr + 1.5 mi/hr = 4.5 mi/hr
d%5BT%5D+=+4.5%2A+t
