Question 276604: I wasn’t sure if you would be able to help me with this because you cant see the diagram that I have, but I will try to explain it the best that I can.
The diagram represents weights on a see-saw. The weight labeled 10 is on the left side, the weight labeled 4 is on the right side, the variable y is on the left side and the variable x is on the right side. The distance between the weights is 21.
a) Write a system of equations for the diagram.
b) Solve the system to find x and y.
I know this is asking a lot, but I appreciate any help/advice you can give me. Thank you so much.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 10y = 4x
x + y = 21 ___ x = 21 - y
substituting ___ 10y = 4(21 - y)
10y = 84 - 4y ___ 14y = 84 ___ y = 6
substituting ___ x + 6 = 21 ___ x = 15
