Question 27648: I need help.Urgent help.Please explain to me how to do this problem listed below.
Directions: Write an equation of a line that contains the given point and is PARALLEL to the given line.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you need to put the equation in slope-intercept form;
3x+2y=8
2y=-3x+8
y=-3%2F2y+4
Now a line that is parallel to this line is going to have the same slope,which is;
-3%2F2
So your equation will begn by;
y=-3%2F2x+b
Now we need to find the y-intercept, so with the point given you fill in the equation;
y-y1=-3%2F2(x-x1)
y-2=-3%2F2(x-6)
y-2=-3%2F2x+18%2F2
y-2=-3%2F2x+9
y=-3%2F2x+11
Hope you understand
=)
