put the equations in the form y=mx+b
where m is the slope
fortunately the second pair is in that form and
-2*1/2=-1 they are perpendicular
the first pair y=2x+4
and x-3y=-9
add -x to both sides
-3y=-x-9
divide both sides by -3
y=-x/-3-9/-3
y=x/3+3
m=1/3
and m=2
2*1/3 does not =-1
