y = 1/2x can be understood as
y = 1/(2x) -> x in the denominator
or
y = (1/2)x -> x in the numerator.
Use (_) carefully.

Writing 1/2x incorrect and confusing. Use parentheses or x/2 to avoid confusion.

No, it makes it different. Here is another way to look at this.
Take a simple fraction like 3/4, this would be totally different if we made it look like: 1/3*4 (* means multiply)
