Yes they are both linear equations which produce lines
There are no more than two variables and no powers (exponents) greater than one.
to graph
set x=0 and solve for y
set y=0 and solve for x
do that for both original equations

solve by elimination
multiply the first equation by 4 and subtract the new equation from the second equation
solve by substitution
set 2x+y=4
as
y=4-2x
substitute 4-2x for y in the second equation
