Graph the line except that you need to draw a dashed line instead of a solid line. That's because the inequality is greater than, , only instead of greater than or equal .

Then select a point on the plane that is NOT on the line you just graphed. Since this line does not pass through the origin, the origin, (0, 0), is an outstanding choice for this step.

Substitute the values of the coordinates from the point you selected into the original inequality. If the result is a true statement, shade in the half-plane on the side of the line containing the point you selected. If the result is a false statement, shade in the other side of the line.
