f(x) = 3x - 2

Sub each value for x and find f(x). You can let y = f(x) to graph it.
y = 3x-2

1...1 --> (1,1)
2...4 --> (2,4)
4...10 --> (4,10)

If you plot the points, you'll see it's a straight line thru all of them.
Line --> linear equation.
