Start with the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle:
1) P+=+2%28L%2BW%29 where L = length and W = width.
2) W+=+%281%2F4%29L "The width (W) is one fourth the length (L)." Multiply both sides by 4.
2a) 4W+=+L Into equation 1) Substitute P+=+190 and L+=+4W
1a) 190+=+2%284W%2BW%29 Divide both sides by 2.
1b) 95+=+%285W%29 Divide both sides by 5.
1c) highlight%2819+=+W%29 and..
2b) L+=+4W
2c) L+=+4%2819%29
2d) highlight%28L+=+76%29
The length is 76m. and the width is 19m.
Check:
P+=+2%28L%2BW%29 Substitute L+=+76 and W+=+19

10x=190
x=19 short side
4x=76 long side
