Question 16406: I need help on finding slope. Iv'e never learned how to do it, so could anyone please just give me a brief description.

y=-2,-8,10,-6
Thankyou sooo much. Hugz and Kizzez,

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Slope literally means the change in Y over the change in X,( rise over run)or(Delta Y, Delta X)<<< other ways of saying slope. So, let's make a T chart:
X,Y
1,-2
4,-8
-5,10
3,-6
So, to find the slope of the 1,-2 and 4,-8 we simply do Y2-Y1/X2-X1...where Y2 is -8, Y1 is-2, X2 is 4, and X1 is 1.
-8-(-2)/4-1
By doing the arithmetic we get -6/3, or in lowest terms, -2. Your slope is negative 2 between the first two ordered pairs.
________
-6-10/3-(-5)
-16/8... answer is also a slope of negative 2 for the second set of ordered pairs.
