Question 143911: Solve by setting up the proper equation to describe the facts given and then carrying out the mathematical calculations to solve for the unknown variable(s).
Mary’s hourly wage is twice that of John’s. John’s and Dennis’ hourly wages together total $60. If Dennis earns 1/3 of John’s rate, what does Mary make per hour?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Okay, in the problem, Mary's and Dennis' wages are based on John. So let's assigned "x"= John's hourly wage. And Mary's age is twice that of John = "2x".
Also Dennis wage is 1/3 of John's rate= "1/3(x)", right?
Now, there's a condition that John's and Dennis' wages total $60 per hour. To show,
right? -------------- eqn 1
continuing,

---------- John's hourly rate
For Mary, "2x" = 2($45) =
Also for Dennis,
There you go,it shows Mary's wage is twice that of John's wage
Thank you,
Jojo
