You can put this solution on YOUR website!

You could setup a data table if you feel the need, using RT=D and form a time sum equation.

                     SPEED TIME DISTANCE

GOING TO 50 d/50 d

STAYING 15

RETURNING 50 d/50 d

Totals 49

Let distance each way, be D
Since entire trip took 49 hours, and 15 of those hours were spent not driving, then time spent driving = 49 - 15 = 34 hours

If you want to use t as time as suggested, you can. This will produce a different equation than mine below. But, I won't use
it because I don't need to, as I want to get DIRECTLY to the distance, each way.

a) We then get the following TIME equation: highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C3%2C+D%2F50+%2B+D%2F50%2C+%22=%22%2C+34%29%29
You can then continue to solve by SIMPLIFYING the above equation to: matrix%282%2C3%2C+2D%2F50%2C+%22=%22%2C+34%2C+D%2F25%2C+%22=%22%2C+34+%29
b) All you need to do now is CROSS-MULTIPLY to get D, the distance each way.
