Question 1142239: Solve the following system of equations by graphing. If the system is inconsistent or the equations are dependent, say so. 7x-5y=2, 14x-10y=4
Answer by ikleyn(52786) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
Divide both sides of the second equation by 2. Then you will get the second equation in the form
7x - 5y = 2,
which is identical to the first equation.
It means, that the two given equations are DEPENDENT, so the system has INFINITELY MANY solutions.
The two given equations, actually, represents ONE straight line.
My analysis is completed.
