You can put this solution on YOUR website! A worker is employed to work for 30 days at the rate of Rs 120 per day. If he is absent on a particular day he loses Rs 30. The worker earns total of Rs 2700 for that period. For how many days was the worker absent?
30 days worked 30*120 = 3600
He earned 2700
3600-2700= 900
He gets 120-30 =90 on an absent day
900/90 = 10 days absent

The solution by @mananth is incorrect and illogical.
I came to bring a correct solution.
Let x be the number of days, when worker really worked,
and let y be the number of days, when he was absent.
Write a system of two equations as you read the problem.
x + y = 30 (1)
120x - 30y = 2700 (2)
From equation (1), express x = 30-y and substitute it into equation (2), replacing x there.
You will get
120*(30-y) - 30y = 2700.
Simplify and find y
3600 - 120y - 30y = 2700
3600 - 2700 = 120y + 30y
900 = 150y
y = 900/150 = 6.
ANSWER. The worker was absent 6 days.
CHECK. Check the total money he got 120*(30-6) - 30*6 = 2700. ! Correct !
Solved (correctly).

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The total pay if he worked all 30 days at Rs 120 per day would be Rs 3600.
On each day of work he misses, he does not get the Rs 120 for that day, AND he loses Rs 30 as a penalty. So for each day he misses work, his total pay goes down by Rs 150.
His pay for the 30 days was Rs 2700, which is Rs 900 less than he would have made working all 30 days.
So the number of days of work he missed was 900/150 = 6.
ANSWER: He missed work 6 days

Yes, yes, yes.....HIGHLY ILLOGICAL! How can someone, when ABSENT on certain days, be making money on those days. Unless, of course,
it's an employee who may get paid while out. But, that's another story. This is definitely NOT the case here, and doesn't apply
here! Plus, it's clearly stated that he's employed to WORK for 30 days, hence CONTRACT!
Let number of days absent be A
Then number of days present = 30 - A
With him losing Rs 30 per day, when absent, he then loses a total of - 30A
With him receiving Rs 120 per day, when present, he earns 120(30 - A), or 3,600 - 120A
Since total earnings were Rs 2,700, we get: - 30A + 3,600 - 120A = 2,700
- 30A - 120A = 2,700 - 3,600
- 150A = - 900
