where %282%2F3%29x represents the number of boy surfers, and %281%2F12%29y represents the number of girl surfers
and
2x+=+y (two girls for every boy)
then:

2x%2F3+%2B+2x%2F12+=+385
8x%2F12+%2B+2x%2F12+=+385
10x%2F12+=+385
10x+=+4620
x+=+462...number of boys
