Question 1019346: For my homework assignment, I had to do this problem:
You sold hats and t-shirts at a recent ball game. Hats sold for $10.50 each and t-shirts sold for $16.75 each. You sold a total of 35 items and earned $492.50. How many hats and how many t-shirts did you sell?
I tried to do this equation:
10.50x+16.75y=35
x + y= 492.50
I tried to solve the equation but when I canceled out the variable I subtract the 35 and 492.50 I couldn't solve the problem. I really have no clue how to solve this.

x is how many hats, and y is how many t-shirts.
